Wanted! Musical Director
Piccolissimo and Flautissimo are seeking a new director of music, starting in September 2012. We are an enthusiastic and friendly group of flautists who enjoy performing music to a high standard. Rehearsals take place weekly during term time from 6pm - 9pm at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Portswood, Southampton. Piccolissimo rehearse for an hour and then Flautissimo rehearse for two hours, with a short break. Flautissimo have performed locally for over 25 years, in a variety of venues from churches to bandstands as well as more high-profile venues such as Turner Sims.
Applicants should essentially be a musician, with a passion for making music at a high level and a fundamental love of music. Desirable qualities include experience of flute playing, of flute choirs rehearsal and repertoire and of leading a similar ensemble.
Auditions will be held on Friday 16th March 2012, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Portswood, Southampton. You will be required to take a short rehearsal with our junior group, Piccolissimo on a piece of your own choice, and then to take a short rehearsal with Flautissimo, again using a piece of your own choice. This can be chosen from our library, should this be more convenient, further details can be provided on request. There will also be a brief interview with a small panel in which we will want to assess your previous experience and knowledge.
